Yesterday we took advantage of maybe one of the last summery days of 2015 and celebrated our last full day in Italy at the seaside. We decided to skip the bigger resort towns and head to the little village of Varigotti.
Varigotti is a colourful town built right along the shore of the sea. Apparently it was once occupied by North African pirates, and some people say that some of the town’s architecture actually resembles what you would see in Northern Africa. We spent the day searching for these little details and actually found some things that definitely resembled Moroccan architecture.
We relaxed on the beach and swam before hiking up to an old tower from the 1200s and the ruins of an ancient abbey.
I guess now it’s time to say goodbye to summer!
