Troncea Valley

The other day we went to the Val Troncea for a hike. We didn’t really have a destination or direction, we just parked the car and followed whatever trail we liked.

We walked through beautiful pine woods on a wide gravel trail. I was happy to be on a relatively flat trail, no steep climb for once! The valley is part of a natural park, and is one of the best spots in the Alps to see deer (although we didn’t have the luck to see any!)

As we got a little further the valley started to open up and we could see some of the mountains lining the valley. I took a photo of the jet trails for my dad :)

We stopped to have lunch and lay in the grass overlooking the valley.

Last winter’s snow survived the summer! The Val Troncea is a relatively cold valley, perfect for hiking in the summer, and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.

It was such a beautiful spot to spend the day.

We even brought back some treasures from the woods!

    • Thought you would like them! You should search the area in that flight app, it must be a major route because we saw dozens. We used the binoculars to look at one and saw it was Turkish Airlines!!
